Chairman, Mission Governing Board
India stands at the threshold of a quantum revolution. With the launch of the National Quantum Mission (NQM), we are taking a bold leap to position our nation at the forefront of global quantum research, innovation, and product development.
Quantum technologies—encompassing computing, communication, sensing, and materials—are poised to transform the way we solve problems, secure information, and build intelligent systems. The mission focuses on creating world-class infrastructure while nurturing a vibrant ecosystem of researchers, startups, and industry leaders.
To drive this transformation, we have established four Thematic Hubs (T-Hubs) at premier institutions, each with a defined mandate, structured timelines, and a strong emphasis on product-oriented research. These hubs play a pivotal role in building indigenous capabilities and accelerating the transition from research to real-world applications.
A key pillar of the mission is fostering collaboration—between academia, industry, startups, and global partners. By supporting innovation through grants and encouraging co-development of intellectual property, we are laying the foundation for a self-reliant and globally competitive quantum ecosystem.
Having witnessed India’s journey from a hardware-scarce nation to a digital powerhouse, we believe the time has come to evolve into a product-based nation—creating breakthrough quantum technologies from India, for the world.
Together, let us build a quantum future that is not only envisioned in India, but realized by India.
