The Mission Governing Board (MGB) serves as the apex decision-making authority of the National Quantum Mission (NQM), providing strategic direction and oversight. Chaired by Dr. Ajai Chowdhry, co-founder of HCL Technologies, the MGB comprises eminent scientists, industry leaders, and senior government officials. Its primary responsibilities include approving mission strategies, monitoring progress, and ensuring alignment with national priorities.
The Mission Technology Research Council (MTRC) functions as the scientific advisory body to the NQM, offering guidance on research priorities and technological advancements. It operates under the leadership of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India. The MTRC oversees the Mission Coordination Cell (MCC) and plays a crucial role in evaluating proposals for funding under the mission. By providing expert insights, the MTRC ensures that the mission's research and development activities maintain scientific rigor and relevance.
The Mission Secretariat operates under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and is responsible for the administrative and operational aspects of the NQM. It coordinates with various stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, and industry partners, to facilitate the mission's objectives.
A dedicated Mission Coordination Cell (MCC) has been established at IIT Kanpur. The MCC facilitates the activities under the National Quantum Mission and ensures seamless collaboration across various stakeholders to accomplish mission objectives. MCC connects Thematic Hubs with ministries, national agencies, industries, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders and beneficiaries of the mission, enables effective monitoring, while connecting NQM with other national initiatives like Digital India, Make in India, Skill India, Start-up India, Self-Reliant India, and Missions like National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) and National Super Computing Mission (NSCM).
