Professor Anil Prabhakar, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, is the Lead Principal Investigator of the technical group working on Quantum Communication with the focus on Quantum Internet with Local Access QuILA, under India’s National Quantum Mission.

Profile

Professor Anil Prabhakar earned his Ph.D. in 1997 from Carnegie Mellon University, focusing on Nonlinear Spin-wave Optical Interactions.

Since 2002, he has been a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. His research encompasses quantum technologies, fiber lasers, and opto-fluidics.

Career Highlights

Professor Prabhakar serves on the Scientific Management Board for LIGO-India and the India-based Neutrino Observatory. He is a member of editorial boards for journals such as Scientific Reports (Nature) and IEEE Transactions on Magnetics.

As a co-founder of QuNu Labs and Quanfluence, he has advanced quantum communications and photonic quantum computing. Additionally, he is the Director of Yali Mobility and Enability Foundation, focusing on rehabilitation engineering.

Professor Prabhakar’s expertise includes quantum communication, photonic quantum computing, magnonics, and assistive technologies. He has authored over 50 research publications, co-authored a book on Spin Waves, and holds 18 patents in photonics, magnonics, and assistive devices.
